The wep password passed but when the xbox does its scan it can't find an ip address now its freezing just purch. Lesd than 2 weeks ago

Stupid question perhaps, but does the router have DHCP enabled? If it does, then statically assign an IP (not within the DHCP scope of the router) and set the default gateway as your router.

You might want to give your Xbox a static IP anyway, as there are issues with NAT with some games (namely COD) and you need to give a fixed IP to port-forward in order to get around this issue.
