Side fans enough?

Hello all! I am slowly but surely putting together my first homebuilt system in one of these cases: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139015

This case comes with three fans (two behind the HD cages, one as exhaust), and has room for seven more. I would like to know how many fans I need and/or where they should go. From reading online forums (including here, with some great discussions!) it sounds as though it depends largely on what's going to be inside the case.

I am thinking of one or two SSDs at first (no HDDs) and plan to have two Gigabyte Radeon 7870 graphics cards in the case, which has mounts on the side window for two 120mm/140mm fans. These have no filters.

- If I'm planning for passively-cooled SSDs, how much will front fans benefit me?
- Is it a reasonable idea to have two decent side fans and the rear exhaust fan as the only air cooling in my system? I will be happy to install third-party filters on the window mounts.

Any suggestions and tips for a first-timer welcome. Thank you very much.

I'm a big advocate of 'less is more'. Only add fans if actually needed, not just because there is space for 7 fans.

This configuration should be fine. You probably don't need any more. "Maybe' 1 side fan blowing in.Go with the stock config. If you see things are getting a little high, add a fan or two.
