I want to buy a new GPU but I don't know which.

I was thinking about a Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 OC

But I don't know if there is any better. Someone told me that the new generation came out and that it's stupid to buy this one.

Basically I want a GPU that will run me most games on max details for around the next 3 years. I play on 1920x1080. It shouldn't cost more or much more than £200.

This guy's right. If you really enjoy PhysX though, try a GTX 760. However, I think the 7950 overall rates a bit better than the 760. Neither will last you 3 years of max settings since both are mid/upper-mid range GPUs, especially since the new generation of consoles are around the corner which means that the new standard for max/ultra settings will be significantly higher for multiplatform games. Both are still excellent though and you'll probably get 60 fps at 1080p ultra settings (without SSAA) for current games and will probably get you 60 fps at 1080p on high settings for games 1 or 2 years from now.

*AMD NEVER SETTLE:
You can currently get THREE GAMES for an HD7950/70 and TWO for an HD7850/70. Not only that, you can choose from the list (digital download).

An HD7950 is a great idea even if it's slightly over what you planned to pay. You get not only slightly better performance but another game as compared to an HD7870.
