I just received my new Satellite L50 (customized) notebook today, and. . . already regretting that I picked AMD over Intel. :(

I swapped out the HDD for a SSD (I just can't go back to HDD), and started installing 'things' from scratch. I'm not "good" with computers, but I've never had any significant issues doing this in the past - those where Intel notebooks.

AMD display drivers do not appear on Windows Update like Intel's does, so I went and tried installing the auto detect program from AMD's website, but it gives me this error message:
"AMD Catalyst(TM) Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. Your computer does not contain a proper graphics adapter"

After searching around online I found this:
"...It is recommended to use the drivers provided by the notebook manufacturer"
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/737-28041SupportforATIMobility.aspx

I went to Toshiba's website and downloaded: AMD DISPLAY DRIVER 13.15-130709a-158804E-Toshiba

It says I succesffuly installed, and I went ahead and re-started my computer (wasn't asked to), but I get this message:
"AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center"

My Windows Experience Index ratting is a 2.0 due to the lowest scores (graphics)

Satellite L50
AMD A8-5545M
Windows 8 64/bit

Can anybody help me?
What am I doing wrong?
Should I have gotten an Intel powered notebook?

Solution
Still have the Hard Drive untouched?

If so, you should CLONE from the HDD to the SSD.

Was that AMD driver for your exact laptop and Windows version?
