If I want to mount a radiator in either the Haf-x or Corsair 800D, how would I go about mounting on the outside if it wouldn't fit on the inside? is a 480mm rad even necessary to liquid cool a cpu + sli 780s?

More about : mounting radiator 360mm 480mm haf 800d

A 480mm would keep them ice cold, but a 360 would do just fine, and I personally own a HAF X for my main rig right now and they are very very spacious inside. I think I have seen some people put 480s in the top, but I'm not sure. I have a H100 (240mm rad) and it fits with room to spare. A 360 would fit up top just fine, might require a little modding. As for the 800D, I have never personally built in one, but I have a buddy that has one, and it too is a massive case, I'm pretty sure that you would not have a problem mounting a 360 in either, as for mounting outside, you can always get a rad bracket off of FrozenCPU that would attach it to a 120mm fan slot. Hope this helps!

I like the 800d case the best but that is a preference... mounting radiators on the inside of your case is always tricky

It depends on how much work you want to put into modding your computer case...

Here is a very nice build using two radiators, take look at this guys build look through the whole page:

The Phanteks case seems ideal for your needs
http://www.phanteks.com/Enthoo-Primo.html

Front: 120 or 240 Rads
Rear: 120 Rad or 140 Rad
Bottom: 120, 240, 360 or 480 Rads .... or .... 140 or 280 rads
Top: 120, 240, 360 or 480 Rads ..... or ..... 140, 280 or 420 rads

Im thinking 420 top and 280 bottom on next build

I recommend simply getting a compatible Corsair case.

Personally, I like the C70 (black, green, or white) with its snap panels:

You do realize that's a mid tower case and I'm putting on a 480mm radiator, right?

Anti-solution.

What exactly is the problem?
The specs state it supports a 480mm radiator.

Here's a link to the Corsair H100 (480mm radiator) in the Corsair C70 case.

Unless you need more drive bays there's no reason to get a taller case. Plus, a full tower doesn't give you more space at the top, it increases the space between the bottom power supply and the motherboard.
