I have had this issue for a year now and am now getting tired of it. My computer seems to crash and the only way to get it to work is to underclock the cpu. Then i found that if i underclock my ram and set the voltage lower i can then set my cpu oc either normal or a tad bit higher. I want to fix this issue and hoping someone can explain to me what it is i must do to to keep my computer from crashing while maintaining a normal cpu frequency and ram frequency. My system specs are:
I5 2550k sandy bridge currently @ 3.2ghz

8gb of Vengence Ram

Asrock z68 extreme4 gen3 mobo

850w psu

Solution
Do you have the latest BIOS? Put sticks in slots 1-3, enable XMP, select profile 1, raise DRAM voltage to 1.55 and raise VCCIO to 1.1 and give it a try

Yes, i have the latest bios and i already had the ram in slots 1 and 3. I gave the settings you gave me a try but the computer only showed windows 8 loading for a few seconds then beeped and rebooted.

May have a bad stick, might want to run Memtest on each stick by itself in slot 1 9takes awhile so suggest only 4 or 5 passes),, another option would be just to run on one stick and see if either has adverse effects (prob quicker than Memtest) then run Memtest on the suspect stick.

I have done both of those earlier on and found no errors with the ram.

I forgot to mention that i must fluctuate the power in both the cpu and ram to keep it stable. Do you think it could be a psu or mobo related issue?

Since i have never messed with the processor in my computer and don't feel comfortable doing so(not to mention i have no thermal compound to reapply to it) i will attempt this later on. I would like to thank you for your time and hope to find a solution soon.
