J jchap Honorable Aug 23, 2013 1 0 10,510 Aug 23, 2013 #1 A few moments ago I updated my driver for my ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 to 8.97. Instantly the fan came on maximum speed and I was idling at 85 C where I was in the 60s before the update. Reverting the driver did not help matters. Any ideas?

Solution clutchc Aug 23, 2013 Try the AMD driver uninstall program to get rid of conflicts with old driver remnants. http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx If that doesn't clean out the old crap good enough, try Driver Sweeper from safe mode. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.html
