I was wondering I already have dual channel Ram set up 2x4gb and I want to put in two more 4gb sticks but since it is only dual channel is it a better idea to spend more money on two sticks of 8gb ram?

More about : ram 4x4gb 2x8gb

The performance difference would not be too noticeable.

2 x 8 gigabyte sticks is more easy on the systems memory controller(can run better timings sometimes).

Please check your motherboard makers site for a QVL to minimize any chances of getting 2 pairs that do not get along(it is VERY rare, but can happen).

less modules = easier for memory controller on CPU = better OCs and / or better timings
