Hello all,

I have been experiencing a problem with my computer lately. About a month ago my partner noticed it turned off by itself and this has happened three times until yesterday.

Yesterday, when I restarted the computer (after it turned off) it shut down before reaching the login screen. I restarted the computer and the same thing occurred. When trying to enter start up repair the same thing occurred. I then went into safe mode and preformed a system recovery, but the computer shut down. I turned it back on and this time it worked normal and finished the recovery and let me login.

Today when I turned on the computer the monitor went blank before reaching the login screen and holding down the power button didn't turn it off. I switched the computer off at the wall and turned it back on again. This time it let me login and carry on with work for about 2 hours before again shutting down. I then underclocked my ram to see if it fixed anything, but nothing. So now when I run my computer it either goes blank before the login screen, or turns itself off during use.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like possibly a short or a failing PSU...do you have or can you borrow a PSU to test with?
