Hey guys,

I just built this new computer for games, some light work, etc..

Specs:

MB: Gigabyte H87-D3H http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/49909-ga-h87-d3h
CPU: Intel i5-4570 http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/49852-bx80646i54570
RAM: Kingston 2x4 Kit, 1600MHz http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/50318-kvr16n11s8k2/...
PSU: Corsair VS450 http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/48556-cmpsu-vs450
SSD: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/50087-sdssdhp-128g-q25
Case: White Phantom 410 http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/44374-8c-p4nl1-wuw
Windows: 8.1 Preview (saving money on windows :)

Since I didn't have the budget for the entire computer, I opted in modular upgrades given I can get a decent base to start with.

Future upgrade plans:
-> CPU cooler: CM 212 EVO (or better) http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/45673-rr-212e-20pk-...
-> Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster Z http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/48591-sb-z
-> GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 or new AMD equivalent.
-> HDD!

Until I get that GPU I'm using the built in HD4600, but I seem to get this error that the the computer memory is too low when I'm playing.

I can cancel it, but it would come up again after few minutes and then after 5-6 times the windows just force closes the game.

I'm assuming the HD4600 is using the RAM as VRAM and ending taking too much? or maybe windows doesn't like it?

Is there a way to limit the RAM for the HD4600 or stop windows from complaining?, the gameplay is fine even with the error

yep, pretty sure. but what difference would it make?

Well from what I can see you have 4.1gig free out of 7.9 so you should not be getting a out of memory error. However since you are playing a game (Prototype) I would close Chrome and mpc-hc because from what I can see just between those two they are consuming over 563MB of ram just on those two programs.

More than likely you're running a 64bit version of Win8. Easiest way to tell just press the windows key + Pause/Break it'll bring up your system properties. Use the startup tab in Task Man and turn off apps that load with windows like Adobe, don't disable anything thats for Intel or your motherboard. When in doubt about one of the items google it.

2000% sure that I'm running 64-bit
and from the looks of it, I don't any see any good reason why I get the error.

The windows is very fresh, it only loads chrome and adobe update stuff which I'm happy to keep.

Could be an actual memory problem? maybe something wrong with one of the sticks?

Same problem, happens while using Chrome... only 50% memory utilization in task manager (4gb of 8gb).
4600 is good but this bug needs fix also minimum throttle should be adjustable
