I know there is many different opinions regarding X Plane 10 Systems but perhaps somebody on here may have the answers to my questions.

This is my first Gaming type PC build and is primarily to run X Plane 10 with possibly 3 monitors. Does this make for a sound build or am I going to have issues with bottle necking somewhere?

Motherboard: Asrock Z87 Extreme 4
CPU: i5 4670K
GPU: Asus GTX760 DCUii OC
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws CL9 16GXH 16GB
PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold800W
Storage: Samsung 120GB SSD
Cooling: Thermaltake Water 2.0 Perf.

Please Help!

Thanks RazerZ. I had wondered if the Coolermaster PSU were up to spec. I was hoping the 80+ Gold rating would be fine. I originally was looking at Antec HCG Modular 750W but it only has 80+ Bronze.

Is the Bronze Antec still going to be more reliable than the Gold Coolermaster?

Also, this is pretty much the peak of my budget. But what I would really like to know Is this rig just "going to be fine" for my requirements or is this a really good setup for such process intensive program.

Or are there some slight changes which need to be made which will greatly improve this rig for little change in cost?

It will run on it on high settings no problem :). Also there is some things you could save money on, and I could put together a build if you like :).

Sure, Id love to see what a cheaper build option would be. I have to admit that I really like the idea of this being able to run on high with this rig. Dont forget that I am planning to run 3 monitors..... and maybe even a fourth at some stage.

This build uses an ivy bridge i5 ( don't worry long story short it's better), and 8 gigs of ram because 16 is unnecessary for running most games. I also put in a 4gb version of the graphic card since your planning on running it on multiple monitors, and now you should be able to play it on max settings. Here it is:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Funny you pick these parts. My original choice of motherboard and CPU was the Z77 Extreme 4 and 3570K. These parts though are about $1350 in Australia where I am. However they are very hard to come by as the Z77 Extreme 4 is now obsolete. I do have one supplier that is offering it for $135 and one left in stock. Same with the 3570K for $299 with only a few left.

Is it worth sticking with the 1155 chipset or "future proofing" to the 1050 ??

No stick with an LGA 1150 for future proofing.

Ok. So after some much needed careful thought, I have come up with a slightly modified build.

How does this sound as an X Plane 10 rig?

(Prices are AUD as I am in Sydney)

CPU: i5 4670K $269 (PC DIY)
MOTHER BOARD: Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 $195 (PC DIY)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX760 OC 4GB $409 (PC DIY)
PSU: Antec HGC 750M $159 (PC DIY)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X CL9 2133 mhz 8GB $105 (PC DIY)
STORAGE: Samsung 840 120GB SSD $129 (PC DIY)
COOLING: Corsair H80i $121 (PC DIY)
CASE: Thermaltake MS-III $58 (PC DIY)
OS: Windows 7 Pro $159 (PC DIY)
MONITORS: 3 X AOC 24" E2462VWH $162 ea (PC DIY)

$2090 TOTAL

Do all of these parts fit without any obvious bottlenecks?

NOTE: I did find this particular warning in regard to my RAM and CPU compatability.

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory operating voltage of 1.6V exceeds the Intel Haswell CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.

Will this warning be negated by the fact I am going to overclock the CPU anyway? Will overclocking the CPU allow the RAM to work at its maximum?

Final build looks good. Regarding the PSU, Coolermaster isn't of the known reliable brands, so I wouldn't get it. Never go cheap on a PSU and motherboard.

Thank you for your help and comments RazerZ.

I would love to hear from any other people X Plane 10 users out there to hear of their builds and their experiences. Also if they have any further comments to make regarding a rig for multi monitor setup with X Plane 10.

Glad to help, here's how a multi monitor display using AMD eyefinity look when running X Plane 10.

Well actually this brings me to what was going to be one of my next questions on this forum. How easy is the GTX 760 to set up for 3 monitors. And is it as good as AMD Eyeinfinity?

Just as easy and just as good.
