I have just done a full re-install of Vista , updated windows and then started a HDD tools error checking to check for bad sectors. It started and got to 8% and froze THEN on reboot it started again and froze at 7% THEN 3rd time at 6%. by this time I realized I was being cornered by vista so bailed out and defaulted the boot-up.
Got the beast going but would like to check the HDD for any errors it has. Now what do I do??
Is it time to axe this notebook

Solution
Best way to check the drive is to use a low level scan, the BIOS may have an option to check the disk, there could be a utility from he drive maker or the laptop vendor.

Decided since I have only just done a full re-install , I may as well throw in a new HDD and in the process throw the old drive into my desk top & upgrade to a 500GB
Cheap / no head ache / 3x more memory and if the notebook goes bang soon, I hope I will still have the drive for my new build.:D
