Hello,
I'm new and writing this from a family laptop because my own windows desktop rig crashed. I purchased parts for my rig last year between Oct and Nov. It was built in December with a friend who's very experienced. So I've had it for little over half a year and ever since it's been working great with no major problems. It's mainly a gaming rig but I also use it for regular use (school, etc). I always keep up with most drivers and updates. I run my security programs every other day. I'm on Win 7 Pro 64 bit legit paid copy.
A week ago which is the time of when this problem occurred, I was browsing internet as normal and my internet connection went out. I'm on a net gear WiFi adapter so I tried reconnecting but it didn't work so I restarted. Upon restarting, I'm shown a black screen with the options of 1) Start-up repair or 2) Start windows in normal mode. I tried both but neither worked. It will not allow me to go to the windows log-in screen, only the black screen with those two useless options.
I even attempted to go into safe mode and try system recovery but again neither worked. I also went into BIOS to make sure that the CD drive is booted up first and then the SSD with the OS. At this point is there any way to retrieve data off the SSD or fix the OS? I never made a image but fortunately most of my files are on the other WD HDD but I still would like to retrieve what I can from the SSD. Here is the tricky part, I'm trying to figure out if the problem is with the SSD (if it needs to be replaced) or if it's just Win 7 that needs re-install??
I really would like to fix this problem if possible rather than having to re-install the OS and everything again. But also want to find the cause of the problem because I don't want to re-install the OS again if the SSD is toast and will eventually crash again.
I'm writing this late at night and pretty tired so I'm probably sure I'm leaving some details out so please let me know.
Thanks
