Is PCI compatible with PCIe 2.0

I am building my own computer and have an older sound and wifi card that are both connected to my MoBo in a PCI connection. If I get a new MoBo with PCIe 2.0 x16 connections, will my old cards work?

Sorry, no.

PCIe 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 are all compatible. PCI is a different physical slot than PCIe and if your NEW mobo does not have PCI slots then it couldn't accept your existing PCI cards. You can buy a new mobo with both PCIe x16 connections AND PCI slots.

Thanks for the help so far. I have found a new wifi card but it is PCIe. will this work in one of the 2.0 slots? btw i am looking at a Sabertooth 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 mobo. I need the PCIe 3.0 for a new gpu card, and the PCI slot for my old sound card. from here there are only 2.0 and 3.0 slots left
