I have an internal USB stick connector on my MB. I am years behind since I built my latest PC and don't understand the practical advantage of having this connector. What is the use of this connector and what is the difference compared to the regular USBs that are on the rear of the MB or connected with headers to the front of the PC case? I read that it could be used to boot from a USB stick, but can't I boot with a USB stick just by plugging it to any other USB port?

Solution

Its useful when you need all of the other ports for external drives or other stuff,or to have an internal wifi like a laptop.
