Yes, Intel 82945G is the chipset for your integrated graphics card. It has nothing to do with sound.

I did a quick Google search for HP 945GCT-HM and it gives me HP Compaq dx2290 Microtower PC. Can you confirm this is your computer model? If that's the case I just checked on the HP website and this computer was manufactured for Windows Vista only, so they give drivers only for Vista. See for yourself:

The integrated soundcard is a Realtek ALC888, so you might be able to find a compatible XP drivers on the Realtek website maybe.

Just note that XP is a very old OS and that Microsoft will officially drop support for it on April 1st 2014 which is coming fast. After this date, no more security updates and patches. So if you use this computer to connect the Internet you will be at risk. I would recommend you upgrade to Vista or Win 7 before this date. Even if they don't give drivers for Windows 7 on the HP website, since the hardware is older probably that Windows 7 will have all the drivers built-in anyways. Or worst case scenario install Vista instead, but I would definitely get rid of XP because its end of life is coming soon.
