loss 3/4 of HHD

I reimaged W7 and now installing new or reused hard drives, three quarters of space is missing? What is happening? One is a new 3 TB green WD and the other is a 1 TB black WD.

I reinstalled W7 from the operating system disk. I guess that is not reimaging. I did take the ntsf format. I followed the newegg build 3 video. The same instructions worked for my W8 build. The machine I am having problems with is a:

Asus p5n-d MB, Intel Core 2 quad Q8400, 64 bit W-7

Another part of the puzzle is the operating system was put on an SSD 240 and no space from that storage device is unaccounted for. Then I added the 2 unfortunate hard drives.
