Quick question regarding compatibility

My dad has an HP (model P6754y). It's a 64 bit system with an AMD Athlon II x4 640 Processor (3 GHz). I want to bump that up to 8 gigs of ram since he uses large databases and maxes out the 3.75 available ram.

So this is a noob question but what's the best way to add 4 gigs of ram? I don't know if it's single channel or dual channel (or if that matters). It has 2 empty slots I believe. I was going to just get an 8 gig kit and replace it all but if I can just add two 2GB sticks that would be cheaper and less wasteful.

I'm guessing I'll have to match the sticks due to the timings? The ram sticker on there is:
2gb 2rx8 pc3-10600u-9-10-b0

Solution

It should work in theory.

Great link, thanks very much. I thought the same thing about the usable ram but the system says 64 bits, I double checked:

Kinda weird. The website says that the 64 bit OS can handle up to 16 GB (which is the norm). I wonder why it says 3.75 usable...?

If I buy a different model 4 gig kit, say http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231394, would this one work with my existing 4 gig kit?

I have two 2gig sticks in there already, stock, and two empty slots. This kit can be added to the two empty slots and BOTH kits would work together, right?

It should work in theory.
