So I just rebuilt my system with a new Asus Z87 Pro mobo and Vertex 3 223GB SSD for the boot drive plus 2 additional HDDs. Then when Samsung 840 Pro 512GB prices dropped, I popped in a one of those, and demoted my Vertex 3 to a data drive. Reinstalled Windows 8 Pro just to be safe and everything is running smoothly for a week now -- except the Vertex 3 will disappear and reappear. Went into the BIOS and turned off a power-conservation setting that lowers drive power when it's not being used -- this seemed to help a bit, but the drive still comes and goes. Anyone see this happen before? I tried reformatting and reconnecting cables. What's bugging me is that the same drive worked great when it was the boot drive. AND I didn't physically relocate the Vertex 3 when I added the new one. Is it mad at me?
