Can someone confirm this is the correct bios for my mobo?

Since no one can seem to figure out my mobo issue, I've decided that I'm just going to try and flash the bios and see if doing so solves the problem.

The mobo I have is an ASUS P5QL-M EPU. When I find it on ASUS's website and look under support/downloads this is the page I get. Everything looks right, but I just wanted to make sure this isn't going to brick my system as I really can't afford a new mobo right now.

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5QLEPU/#support_Download_30

I'm kinda unsure because the version I have says 11/3/2009 which is LATER than the ones offered on the website, but it is numbered 0221 and the website offers 0408. Seems like these may not be the same series?

This will be my first time flashing bios, but it doesn't seem too complicated. Can anyone tell me if there are any specific things I will need to worry about before, during or after flashing? Do I need to use a blank flash drive for this or will it find the correct file amongst all the other files on the USB drive? Will I lose any data or anything? Thanks in advance.

6beers, thanks for the step by step, that really makes me more confident in flashing the bios.

Calvin, you are correct I have the CM5571. But now I'm a bit confused, I opened the box up and looked at the tag directly on my mob and it says exactly:

P5QL-M EPU / CM5571 / DP_MB

So would it be safer to use the one for the exact mobo or the exact computer model? The difference seems to be version 0407 vs 0408

EDIT: I just downloaded the two files to compare them and low and behold, the first link gives me P5QL EPU and the cm5571 link gives me the correct P5QL-M EPU

Thanks for catching that Calvin, I have a feeling you just saved me a world of headaches!

Updated my post above with the exact file difference between the two. Thanks again Calvin, you saved me a lot of trouble.

Also, for future reference.. is this a standard between all mobo makers or just ASUS? I doubt I'll ever buy another prebuilt system again, but if I do, I'm glad I know that they don't always share the same components.

Well I did flash the bios to the CM5571 version 0407 linked above. It did update successfully but unfortunately did not solve my original problem. Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone Google searches and finds their way here that the above bios version was successful.
