i have an fx 8120 right now, and was thinking of upgrading it. would i be better with an fx 6350 or an fx 8320?

Go with the 8350, and pair it with a Good GPU and SSD and your good to go.

I agree, the 8350 will be better...but not by much. Unless you're selling your 8120, there's really no point in upgrading.

i thought that the most any game used was 6 cores?

8320 and overclock, or it you don't want to overclock get the 8350, its well worth it.

Not only that, but the next gen consoles are based on an AMD 8-core cpu design, so that's what game developers are coding for right now. It makes sense that any games in the coming years you play on PC will run very nicely on an FX cpu.
