I am close to building my First PC but I can't decide on a monitor. Some people say IPS monitors are better but some say they aren't so good for First Person Shooters(Which I will be playing). I don't plan on having multiple monitors but I want this monitor to be used for my upcoming build and the next one as well. I'm not that interested in a lot of viewing angles since I will be always sitting directly in front of the screen. I just want a lot of colors and good refresh rates.

This is going to be my first build:

And these are the monitors I've been looking at:

ASUS VS239H-P 23-Inch Full-HD LED IPS Monitor: (Included in the build) $169.99

-------OR-------

Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit LCD Monitor: $157.73

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BZNDS0/ref=ox_sc_a...

-------OR-------

Acer H236HLbid Black 23" 5ms (GTG) HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight: $159.99

If there is a better monitor don't be afraid to recommend it. I just want to keep it under $175.
Thanks in advance. :)

The way I usually look at it is you either want to get IPS for the better colors and viewing angles, or you get a 120Hz panel for higher possible FPS. They both have their pros and cons and it is up to you to decide which is more important

I agree. If there is a Best Buy or Fry's near you, I would just walk in and take the time to just look at the different monitors so you can see the difference between IPS and TN monitors.

Personally, I don't need really fast response times and prefer better color myself. But again, its up to your particular taste.

Could one of you possibly make a Pros and Cons list of both of the types :D  ?
