I have some headphones that don't get very loud plugged into the front port of my Gateway GT5628 running windows xp. I like listening to music really loud but dont have a set of speakers that amplify the music. All the options for sound levels are turned all the way up, so i was wondering if there was a program or something that can boost the volume. Thanks for the help

Solution
When you get new headphones, get some with a volume switch on them, a lot simpler to control than using the computer volume control and then it won't mess with the regular speaker levels.
Max loudness though headphones should be really loud, impossible to listen to really. Your headphones may have a volume control on them, did you check? Also try with another set of headphnes. There are a few ways to set volume levels, in Windows and whatever program you are using for music, check both.

Listening to headphones loud is very bad for your hearing, if you listen too loud, you will heave hearing loss happening very soon.

The headphones are just naturally quiet. Theres no volume control on the headphones themselves either. Turned all the way up is like a quarter of what my other headphones could do. When you take them out of your ears you can't hear the music blasting out of the headphones, its very faint. I borrowed some other headphones and they got really loud, so i think its just the headphones.
