Will the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor work for my computer?

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 with the original motherboard, etc. Will this processor run well (And safely) on my computer?

According to the specifications of the Dell Optiplex GX620 (pg. 170), the system only supports Intel Pentium or Celeron processors.

In other words, the Intel Core2Quad Q6600 is outside the states specifications and if it did run, it would not do so safely.

Believe so, but check the Dell site for compatible CPUs for your rig, it's socket 775 so would think so

I suppose it's either the original PSU being to weak or a problem with the bios? Shouldn't I be able to change both and make it compatible as it does fit in the socket?
