OCing Asus 7770+ Is it Safe?

I recently purchased a Asus Radeon 7770 with 1 gb Vram and I was wondering if overclocking with MSI Afterburner is a safe thing to do, and how much performance increase I would see. Also what are good clock speeds to set for my gpu that would not decrease its life span.

well.. overclcoking = more heat = less life span ... personally i dont know much about overclocking this card in particular, however mild overclocks wont lower its lifespan by much, better case airflow can help.. im pretty sure you buy water blocks for some gpus too
