this is my first time posting a question on this site but i use this site alot so i thought i would,

long story short i have a gtx 760 and a q9400 @2.66ghz proccessor, my current cpu is bottlenecking my gtx 760 (i dont know by how much but its definatly bottlenecking it), in about 5 days from now i might be upgrading to a i5 3570k if ill be able to see a performance increase, so i was wondering, will there be a significant increase in fps on games or is it not worth it? thanks

(i know you guys dont really know my fps now on games but can you still make an estimate) gta 4 i currently get 16fps on absolute max settings and i know the gtx 760 should be getting better performance than that i think

Yeah seems like gta 4 is optimized really badly for core 2 quads. Searching around the net i found some reviews where even upgrading to nehalem core i7s improved the performance by a lot.

You should be able to see a significant performance increase going to i5 3570k but q9400 should not perform so badly in gta 4.
Can you check the temperatures of your processor and gpu and see whether high temperatures are resulting in throttling? Also can you post the full configuration of your PC ?

Isn't GTA 4 extremely poorly optimised for computers? I would not use that game as a benchmarck.
The 3570k will be a very nice improvement and go well with the 760. Which motherboard are you planning on buying with that CPU?
