Hi, no it won't blow up your motherboard, What model motherboard do you have? so i can recommend the optimal configuration for it

Did you already bought everything? because i would recommend another better quality motherboard, you will have issues with that board (It's got low quality VRM's) further down the line, especially if you gonna consider upgrading to one of AMD's 8-core Processors. Read the following to get a better understanding of what I'm talking about:

Yes it is safe to use. The reasons there are different kits is to be able to use it in different channel modes. A 2x4GB kit will be faster than 1x8GB when it is used in a motherboard supporting Dual Channel. A 4x2GB kit would be even faster when used in Quad Channel.
Most motherboards support dual channel. Unless you will be adding another 8GB stick in the future (not guaranteed to work in dual channel, as the modules may change over time), the 2x4GB kit will be best.

It won't blow your motherboard if itsn't too old. Just think do you really need so much? Better pick 2*4 GB.

The first number is the number of sticks. So 1x8gb is a single 8gb stick, 2x4gb is a double stick of 4gb ram. And so on.. So better check if your mobo supports 4 sticks, etc..
