Hi, i'm working in a office. The internet speed of my PC so low like 10-15 KBps. But i know the office have great net speed. They dont allow the employees to use high speed. So they somehow limit the speed for the users. Employees of other department are using high speed. They are also the same network where we are in! So what can i do???

Solution

If you need the speed to do your job.. go and complain to your boss.
If you don't.. you got to ask some serious questions of yourself.

I'm sorry but we would probably be in violation of the Tom Hardware rules with we discuss this issue. The only option I can really suggest is for you to do it to talk to your supervisor and ask for a better internet connection.

Lets pretend I am you sysadmin and I want to limit you and of course I know all the tricks to get around.

You think I am going to be stupid enough to put something on your PC that you can change. All I need to do is put a traffic shaper in the switch/router that says port/mac/ip whatever is limited to a certain traffic rate going to the internet. This is a trivial thing to do and not much you can do about it. You can try to get creative and change your mac or ip but then I will just implement something like 802.1x on the port and then I will get your new ip/mac every time you log in and if you don't log in you get get no access.

Just be sure it is a intentional block. Most companies don't really care a lot if their employees use the internet for some personal stuff as long as they get their job done.
