Everytime I shut down my computer in order to complete the update procedure I get a BSOD, probably because of a faulty update.

Now, looking at my updates history, it is quite clear which one is the guilty one:

However, I really don't know how to block an update which has already been downloaded and partially installed, and I don't have a usefull restore point to save me.
I can't power power off my computer properly until I manage to solve this issue :(

SOLVED!
Thanks to WhoCrashed I discovered that the couse of all those BSOD was a driver named ahcix86, which is the one for the AMD AHCI Compatibility controller. Rolling back to the Windows default driver solved everything.
Here's the steps I followed, in case someone has the same problem (make sure to use WhoCrashed to find out which driver is causing the issue):
1. Right Click on computer > Properties
2. Device Manager, on the left
3. Under Storage Controller, find something names AMD AHCI Compatibility controller
4. Right click, properties, than Driver section
5. Roll back driver
6. Reboot

If you google the KB number (looks like KB2840633) you can manually download and install the update from Microsoft's website. This will give you the "full" version of the update which would include any prerequisites, so it has the best chance of installing properly. Try downloading and installing it manually that way, and see if it installs.

Just tried downloding it manually, but, at the end of the installation wizard, it says "The following updates were not installed: KB2840633"and nothing else. The following reboot resulted in a BSOD, as usual.

I would strongly recommend not blocking any of the windows security updates. On that topic when did you last do a virus scan. Some viruses need unpatched holes to work so they sometimes disrupt updates installations.
Try installing this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id...

The last virus scan I went through was done yesterday: no virus, nothing at all. I'm using Microsoft Security Essential as my main AV software.
Downloading and installing the update you linked me solved nothing: I still get BSDO during the shut down process.

Btw, thanks guys for the answers :)

Can you remove it in program and features section of the control panel (try looking under View installed updates)

There's no such thing named "update KB2840633" in the list of the installed updates.
I really don't know what to do, I'm afraid I'll be forced to format the whole thing...

So the Security update was a red herring then lol. Its good you have managed to sort it and I hope AMD fix the issue so others don't encounter it.
