Hello there,
I have quite a problem. I've been trying to connect my htpc with an intel atom d2700 (dual core with ht) to my tv. It works perfectly fine with any other lcd monitor and it did with my other tv.

The problem is that i can't see the screen after windows logo on startup. It's like it gets disabled.

Let me explain this better. If i start up the pc when it's connected to a lcd monitor, it works fine. If i unplug the vga cable and plug it back in the screen pops up again. If i unplug the cord from lcd and plug it into my tv the screen is visible like for a fraction of a second then it gets disabled.
If i start up the pc when plugged into the tv, after the windows logo i get a black screen. If i unplug the cord and plug it into the lcd monitor nothing happens. Black screen there too. I have to reset the machine and it all works fine again.

Drivers have just been updated.

Does it have to do with the vga signal through the vga port on the tv?

Solution
Found the following in the users manual (Pg 10) pertaining to a PC input:

The display resolution is a maximum of 640×480 dots (TH-37PWD6, TH-42PWD6), 768×768 dots (TH-42PHD6), 1,024×768 dots (TH-50PHD6) when the aspect mode is set to “4:3”, and 852×480 dots (TH-37PWD6, TH-42PWD6), 1,024×768 dots (TH-42PHD6), 1,366×768 dots (TH-50PHD6) when the aspect mode is set to “16:9”. If the display resolution exceeds these maximums, it may not be possible to show fine detail with sufficient clarity.

This isn't a normal resolution and you may need to try a custom resolution from your PC.

It's a mis-match resolution issue. Your HTPC is trying to display at a resolution that your HDTV does not recognize. Boot into safe mode. Bring up your graphics control window and test each resolution until you find the highest one that works.

I thought that too but even at the lowest resolution the screen would just disappear. My tv is a Panasonic TH-42phd6 and in the menu you can check which frequencies the tv is operating at. I noticed that in safe mode the horizontal frequency is about 39khz while it ramps up to 48khz during boot.. then the video controller like turns off. In fact, if i unplug the vga cable from the tv and plug it into the lcd monitor there's no video signal. I have to reset the machine

I see. What i don't understand is that it works just fine with my netbook but not with the htpc. I'll try out your suggestions tomorrow and see if it works
