Hello

How well will a oc'd Q6600 do with the Lightwave, Photoshop and 3D Studio Max programs?

I am trying to find a use for our old Dell XPS 420 computer after I build a new pc.

The 8350 is better in every way. Consumer cards will be fine and a workstation card really isn't needed til you start getting really complex. It sounds like you are just starting out. It wouldn't hurt to get a workstation card in one just to see how much difference it'll make. The xps 420 has somewhat low ends cards by today's standard but you can try out the software and see how it performs.

I am going to build a pc with the AMD 8350. Would my Q6600 pc be good to use along side of this? One of them I want to play games too. Should I put a workstation card in one machine and a regular gpu in the other? If so which?

I plan on using both for design, rendering, etc.
