Hello! I have recently got the intel i5 4670k and am looking into overclocking however after some attempts, I'm unsure what I should do. These are my system specs:
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Motherboard: MSI Mpower Max Z87
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14
GPU: MSI GTX 770
PSU: Corsair HX850
Case: CM storm trooper
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600MHz
I am using the RAM at 1333MHz and 1.5V. At stock speeds and 100% load (using Aida64) the cores run at an avarage of around 50 C and 1.2V. I tried overclocking and got to 4.4GHz using 1.2V, then 4.5GHz using 1.25V. I then tried 4.6 but the voltage wasn't enough. At 4.5GHz it run at an avarage of around 60 C but momentarily reached 77 C. My question is, can I increase the voltage to something like 1.3V and still have a healthy system? Will it shorten my CPU's lifespan to an extent where I should worry about it (I'm planning on keeping this system for 5-7 years)?
