Hi...I have just reinstalled windows xp pro on my Dell Latitude D430 with a reinstallation disc and am trying to get connected to the internet to update the drivers. Can someone please tell me the basics I need to do to get back online? The network adapters appear to fine in that they do not have the yellow or red flag by them and are showing connected in the control panel in Network Connections. However, in the Device Manager under "other devices" all are showing a yellow flag including the ethernet controller, modem device on high definition audio bus, network controller, and some other audio and video devices due to no drivers being installed I guess. Also, under the "show hidden devices" in the device manager the "Parport" and the "serial" are showing a yellow exclamation mark most likely due to a missing driver since they are switched on in bios. What I'm trying to accomplish is a raw network connection with the minimal amount of drivers I have to install since windows and device manager can install these drives once I get on line as I understand it.
Thanks for your patience and your help!

Solution
The eithernet controller is your network adapter, if it's not installed properly, you won't get online.

Get the chipset and LAN driver from Dell's support site on another computer, install them on yours.
