how do i reinstall windows if my computer didn't come with a disk

how do i reinstall windows 7 if my computer didn't come with a instalation disk
i got a acer aspire 5517 from my parents on a birth day 3 years ago but its starting to get slow i have copied all my precious files on my external hdd
but when i got my computer it din't come with a instalation disk it just booted up and started to instal windows7 now i need my computer to be ( like when i bouth it) anny one can help ???

You can download a free disk image from DIGITAL RIVER, the authorized Microsoft online agent. Just get the same version as your computer uses and then authenticate with your key.

One word of advice -- if your "precious" files are important, backup to a more stable media than an external USB drive. Just scan the storage forum and you will see that they fail all the time.

Sadly, Microsoft only allowed this for Windows 7.

With Windows 8 (or XP) you're out of luck unless your a TechNet member.

Sometimes you will have software preinstalled that allows you to create a system restore disk. That's how my HP came shipped.
