laptop will not recognize ssd when plugged into 2nd HD bay

I have a laptop: ASUS g73jh. Intel i7. 8 gigs ram. Ive booted up using IDE mode and AHCI mode. Nothing. When I remove my main HD and plug in the SSD bios WILL detect it. It also then wont detect the HD in the 2nd bay. The SSD is a samsung 840 series 120 gb. I have gone to disc management and it does not see the SSD.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Ive looked around and nothing pops out at me. Any idea where I could look?

edit:under security there are options to lock and unlock the hd bay.
it lists lan network interface, wireless network interface, hd audio interface, sata 2nd hdd interface, data odd interface, usb interface security. all which are listed as [UnLock] So i switched SATA 2nd hdd interface to lock and restarted and checked and nothing. So i swithced back so all items are listed as UnLock
