Hi guys, currently in the process of putting together my first ever build and all was going well until I turned on the pc and went into the BIOS. I've booted into BIOS a few times now and the initial CPU temp is around 55°C. However, each time the temperature increases fairly rapidly until it hits 99°C after a few minutes whilst idle in the BIOS, I turn the PC off at this point as I don't want to damage the CPU.
The mobo I have is the MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING, the CPU is the Intel Core i5 4670K and I'm using the NZXT Kraken X60 as my cooling solution for the CPU. I've already removed the kraken x60, removed and reapplied thermal paste and remounted the x60 but am still getting the same results.
Due to this being a new build windows 8 has not been installed yet so I am unable to install the Kraken x60 software to see if everything should be working as it should be. The dilema being that I don't want to have my CPU at 99°C during the whole duration of a windows install. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping get this fixed? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
