Hi, I have a spare desktop computer on the veranda that was picking up my wireless with no problems, then my D-Link wireless modem started playing up and rang D-Link and she fixed everything up, but the computer on the veranda would not pick up the network, I could see it on the available wireless networks, and I fiddled around trying to connect, but now I can't see any available networks but the usb connector says it is working with good signal strength but there is no internet. I don't know what I have done.

Solution
On the back of the router uses the hard reset button and hard reset the modem.
Log into the modem change te ssid name to what you want. Then turn on wpa or wep to keep off leaches. If the dongle and os are working fine you should see the ssid network if te router set to broadcast it.
