can anybody check my rig's compatability?

• AMD Vishera 8320
• Ballistix 8GB
• ASRock 880GM-LEFX MOBO (mATX)
• Sapphire 7870 256-bit 2GB
• RAIDMAX 630W Power

Solution
Unfortunately, Your cpu is NOT on the supported list. This does not give a 100% guarantee it will not work(this site says it will), but i would not risk it without first contacting Asrock.

The memory list for that board is here. You will need to match the model number. Memory even not on the list works about 90% of the time. If you are looking at installing 4 sticks. The list is a good way to prevent issues.

I would not recommend the Raidmax power supply only because they have had to many bad power supplies over the years. On paper(so long as it delivers what the sticker says), it should run your system fine.

seasonic power supplies are regarded as the best in the business. It is a really solid investment. I am assuming the speed of your RAM is supported by the motherboard. hopefully your ram are 1600 sticks.

your motherboard and CPU are fine

hey nukemaster i dont mean to discredit your comment, but fkr claims that the board and cpu should work. ur right about the list, but is there any specific reason why maybe a zambezi 8150 or 8120 wouldn't work? just curious

He is right in saying that your CPU is not on there supported list. but the board does support 125 watt chips and the 8 cores. also pcpartpicker says it works for what that is worth

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

sending a quick email to asrock would not be a bad idea.

The board it self should have NO actual issue seeing(may not see the name right) or even running such a cpu(has enough power for 125 watt cpus). AMD has a very good record for supporting newer hardware on older chipsets.

I was just pointing out that the support list only goes upto the 8300 model(or that seems to be what I see).

I do NOT want you to buy parts and be unable to use them together. A quick e-mail to Asrock is still recommended. Better save than sorry.

You can get other mATX boards with newer chipsets if needed.

Ok thanks for clarifying :D do you mind listing some of those newer chipset micro-atx boards? Thanks

AMD systems have great prices(while they are "slower" compared to Intels offerings, the performance per dollar seems quite good).

My Intel mATX board cost MUCH more(I wanted very specific features. $170 for a mATX board was rather high, then again by X58 board was $330...I spend WAY to much money on computers...), but I also had all kinds of selection(and price range).

I have slowly moved over to small systems after years of NEVER wanting to go under ATX. Do much has been integrated as long as I can get my video card and a sound card(I used the onboard audio for a few months, but did not like the features[some of the most basic features my old Audigy had did not exist on the "X-fi MB2" package].) into the system I am happy with it.

My media center is even mITX :). That is when I started working towards smaller less space consuming systems.

nobody ever seems to care nowadays about that sound card but being in the later half of my 30's I remember how much sound cards mean and it is even more true today. a great sound card is cheap considering that it will last through many builds.

I think in the next year we will see motherboards finally improving there onboard audio again since the intel chips are taking over so much of what motherboards used to provide.

but to the OP that asus board I picked should work very well for you.
