Remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter. With battery out and AC adapter unplugged, hold the power button for a few seconds, this will clear power from the capacitors in the system. Then, leave the battery out, and just plug in the AC adapter. What happens?

If you have another Dell or HP power adapter available (they use the same pinout, although an HP cord will not charge the battery in your Dell), try it and see if you get the same result. If it still occurs, you have an electrical short inside the laptop.

Hello, i have a little bit the same problem, just after ^^^ this operation, my system stops on welcome screen, i think there might be some problem with HDD, and after some longer time, it is completely loaded the system, but it starts to work dramatically slow (almost no movement)!
Thank You for Your attention!
