I currently have a GTX 650ti 1gb and an i5-3570k with thermaltake tr2 500w power supply. I am thinking about upgrading my video card to a GTX 670, would I need to upgrade my PSU aswell? If I do need to upgrade my PSU what would you guys recommend?

Hi. It will run, but you don't have any space, because 500W is minimum. If you want to OC and play newest games you should think about 550W or even 600W

It turns out that that PSU is actually enough to power that system and overclock it all the way as well.

You can boot on and use everything on stock , nothing else. So yeah , I would recommend you get a PSU from my list of recommended PSU's mentioned in my guide below with a maximum power ( not to be confused with peak power ) of 600W-750W depending on what your OCing if any. I guess you can buy a good reliable unit under 100bucks with ease. Here's some models if you aren't looking into the guide ( would recommend to go through , not understand ) -
