My PCs internal display was not working so I added ATI RAGE XL PCI 8 MB

Now I am unable to play HD movies on VLC and many other options like PC Standby mode etc. are also not avaliable.
Please Guide me should I Sell off my PC or Just buy Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6670 1GB DDR5 Graphics Card and upgrade??

My Desktop PC configuration is as follows:-

Intel Pentium D CPU 3.20 GHz
Intel Motherboard DG 965 RYCK
2 GB RAM
160 GB HDD

I live in India and would request answers in Indian Market context!!

More about : sell desktop upgrade

The GPU is so old I would try a newer one first. I can't imagine that you'd get anything for selling your system.

Ahem... that is ancient and unable to handle current demands (like HD) because of how old the hardware and I am guessing drivers and windows version. Pick up a cheap brand new desktop at Walmart / Walmart.com for $249 (i3 core will come with about 6-8GB RAM, 500+GB Drive, new LCD, new keyboard and mouse, etc.) if that is all you really interested in (play movies).

Then you should post in forums on websites ending in .IN instead of .COM (U.S. BASED ONLY) if you want LOCAL supported responses.
Doesn't matter anyway the answer is still the same, the technology is still the same, and the system you have is NOT supportive to TODAYS technology / demands, hence why it was replaced a DECADE ago (Pentium D - WOW!).

Uhm NO! He has a PENTIUM D processorwhich came out in 200, not iCore, 5 ! Seven years OLD. It can't handle HiDef much less anything else of todays demands. Further he just 'UPGRADED' to 2 GB! You can buy 1GB Thumb drives at the DollarStore. This is unsupported ancient hardware that was replaced years ago for this very reason.

a GPU like the AMD 6670 can decode most high def on it's own. Also if you read the OP, it sounds like the onboard graphics died, he/she then replaced it with a ATI RAGE and that is the point Hi-def video stopped working. I myself having owned a pentium d 820 and 920 I can tell you that it can decode HD video.

This 6670 seems popular, you should try this, but there is a problem. Your motherboard only has a PCIe 1 slot. I am not sure if this is sufficient to use the 6670 to the fullest, but I think it may be alright.
