GPU: GTX 660
My GPU usage drops randomly to 0%, and only my GPU from what I have noticed, when I play World of Tanks, I haven't noticed a problem with other games. I have tried turning the graphics all the way down to min with absolutely no change. But, I have noticed that the longer I play the game, usually in one session, the less and less it happens. Any thoughts on why this may be happening will be appreciated.

It might be overheating issue, or driver issue. Also check your temps, it might be getting hot then it's downclocking itself.

The temp while in the game sits around 69-78, which I don't think is that high, and I have seen the usage drop to 0% without even hitting 75+. As for the driver, I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, downgraded my driver, and even did a complete reinstall of my whole system, none of which seemed to actually do anything.
Also I don't know if this means anything, but I have noticed that the GPU MHZ doesn't really seem to drop or the Memory's MHZ and MB when the usage drops to 0%, though I could be wrong on this part as I have just recently noticed it.

Wait, so when you're gaming then you alt+tab, you see the 0%? Correct?

No, I recently bought a new keyboard with a LCD screen on it, the G510s. So I am able to monitor some things without alt+tab.

Ohhhhhhh I thought it was MSI afterburner. Run MSI afterburner too, check if it gets to 0% also. I think the keyboard has some problems.

After downloading and installing afterburner, I think there may have been some confusion. The keyboard itself doesn't do the monitoring, it only shows the information that the program collects. And the one that I have been using is EVGA Precision, which looks exactly the same as Afterburner. I did try it with mostly the same results though, but without being able to obtain information about the usage drop, since I have been playing the game for a little while now, and as I said before the more I play it the less it happens. I will try using the afterburner monitor tomorrow, which will let usage drop return, to try see if there is a difference in information between the two programs.

After some tests there doesn't seem to be any difference in Afterburner and Precision X.

But if it's at 0%, it should lag so much and just crash the game. How much drop in framerate do you get?

The drop to 0% causes my FPS to drop to 0, but it only lasts for like 2 seconds then it resumes running normally till it happens again.

I see. Then if it's not driver issue, it might be the GPU itself. Is it a new one?

Yes, it is fairly new. I am not sure of when I bought it but I would say maybe somewhere around 6 months.

Did it happen before? You might want to get that checked bro, before your warranty expires.

@adimeister
When I first started playing the game I don't remember having this problem and I had the 660 at that time as well. And do you think they would allow a trade in even though there's no guaranty that there is a problem with the hardware since the problem will only occur for like the first 30 mins of playing and only on one game, as far as I can see.
Also I don't know if this has anything to do with this. When I first installed the new GPU, since my old one burned out, my computer boots to a lower resolution for what looks to be everything until it gets to the part for me to select my profile, which then shows my 1920x1080 resolution.

I have a Core i7-2600k Sandy Bridge and its not Overclocked.

Yes it's normal for it to set at a lower res because the card is new, and the drivers are not yet there. I see, so it's just on 1 game. Try researching about the game if other players also have some fps drops. I thought it's for all games.

As far as I can see, people have either low fps problems or low GPU usage problems. But nothing about it actually hitting 0%

Then there you have it, the game has some issues bro. I thought it was for all games. There are some games which are not perfectly made, developers made a rush to release it and tested it for a short period of time. So maybe what you can do is, wait for another patch for that game. If I remember correctly, Diablo 3 also had that issue before but for the ping and not the fps.

I too have this issue with my gt 640,, but for me it hangs 5-10 seconds and then resumes,,, during the time when the screen is struck i hear background musics that is not struck and still running some nice background music so i found definitely it is the problem with gpu,, only graphics are struck for 5-10 seconds.
