Greetings fellows, well first of all the links-

Two similar samsung laptops
one with a i5 3230m + 6 gb ram + 1 tb + 2 gb ddr3 8750m for about 700 dollars

and the other i3 3120m + 4gb ram + 750 gb + same gc for about 545 dollars
well its an upgrade from an i3 2.5 ghz to i5 2.6ghz (TB upto 3.2 ghz). Is the i5 worth it, or is the i3 a better choice?

You asked for honest advice. Here's mine. Do your gaming on a desktop. Portables should be used for what they do that desktops can't and that is portability. Modern games have always pushed hardware more than any other software. Over heating and poor battery life are the major complaints and there are no remedies. Portables will never replace desktops. It's against the laws of physic.

Gaming is i5 but if you dont play like ultra games or heavy gaming then its up to you if you to invest in i5 which is definitely better than i3, Overall Investing in Laptop is generally One time and its upgrades are costly compared to pc , so choose wisely.

well that's what i'm confused about, I mean both the i3 and i5 are coupled with the same GPU, so will it benefit in gaming if I use an i5, or will both of them give same results in gaming

The main difference between these two processors is turbo boost. Which clock the processor up faster based on the number of cores in use and heat. The Intel Core i5-3210M has it and the Intel Core i3-3120M doesnt have it.

With a single core in use on both you can see the highest performance on the Intel Core i5-3210M which will run at 3.1GHz over the Intel Core i3-3120M which is topped off at 2.5GHz.

The i3 is a better deal, since there is minimal or no improvement in gaming with the i5 as the GPU is already the bottleneck for both the processors. Rest of the computing tasks can be handsomely done by the i3. Considering that I'm going for the i3 model, the saved money can be spent on an external DVD writer, a cooling pad(Cooler Master Notepal X Slim) and a 4gb laptop ram.

I appreciate your advice, and I agree that's absolutely correct. I already have a desktop for gaming, I'm buying the laptop for portability, something that can play games while on the go!
