I recenty switched from AT&T Uverse to Time Warner because AT&T Uverse could not support Cisco VPN Client. The family all use MACs but I have a PC because my job requires a computer with windows. I can not get the PC to connect to the internet. All the other conputers work fine? Can someone please help?

I’m sorry but I’m not sure how to check that. I have the AT&T settings page pulled up. I haven’t canceled my service with AT&T yet but I’m not connected to that network.

Thank you for the guide. I tried that yesterday with a Time Warner IT. He said it’s my computer and he doesn’t know what to do to help. He suggested I call the Geek Squad.:) The computer was connecting fine on Friday. The installed the new provider on Saturday and now I can’t connect.

You are right about TW tech support and AT&T support as well! They both said buy a new computer. THe computer is fine. I can go to Starbucks and it works. I tried the link you gave me. Is that what you mean? Is there somewhere else I should check?

No, not since the TW installation. I haven’t cancelled AT&T yet. Could that possibly be the problem? Also, yesterday I was asked if I wanted to update to Windows 7. I did and for a short while it connected, I tried to connect to the VPN. It asked for passwords, which is further than I normally get. When I closed out and tried again the connection was lost.

I was using xp. I reinstalled the VPN just a few minutes ago, hoping that would help. I still can’t connect. I’m also not positive it updated to Windows 7...when I go to Change or remove programs, there is no size for the file. I hope that makes sense. I’m afraid I’m a real novice here.

There is no direct upgrade path from XP to Win 7. You can go from XP to Vista to Win 7, but not directly. To go from XP to Win 7 requires a clean install of Win 7.

Sounds like you might have run the Win 7 Upgrade tool which checks your system for Windows 7 compatibility (but doesn't actually upgrade the OS).

If you uninstall the VPN client, does the PC connect to the network?

This can only mean that there is a configuration issue with the Network Connection in Windows or you have a proxy server setup that isn't working properly.

Try this:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click File (on the menu bar), Tools, Internet Options
3. Click on the Connections tab
4. Click on the LAN settings button
5. If checked, uncheck the "Use a proxy server for your LAN..." selection and click OK.

Try connecting to the Internet.
