Hi,

I'm planning a new FX-6300 based build, and need help with the GPU. I'm very much inclined towards the 1GB Radeon 7770, but I may possibly upgrade to a new 1920x1080 monitor in maybe a year or so.
Would this card be the right choice, or should I save up for a 2GB 7790 or 7850?

I'm mainly worried if 1GB VRAM would be sufficient for a resolution of 1440x900 pixels. Also, if I crossfire with a cheap 7750 down the road when I get the new monitor, would that be a bad idea?

Budget:Less than INR 11,000 ( < $160 )
Screen Res: 1440x900
Location: Bangalore, India
Overclocking: NO
Purchasing in: 2 months time, possibly less.
Preferred Brand: ASUS or XFX, or anything with a full 3year no nonsense warranty (unlike sapphire)

Solution

If you are running more than one monitor or playing at 1440p, it will help to have 2gb.

Thanks for your reply swilczak.

Unfortunately stuff is much more costlier here in India. The HD 7850 is around 15k, and hence out of my price range. See for your self. https://www.google.co.in/search?q=flipkart+7850

Also I would like to know at what resolutions should one start considering 2GB's of VRAM?

I agree with you, but, I'd say to go for the 2gb version, because future games will use more vram and 1gb will become a minimum.
