i7 2600k on asus max v/thunderfx

have it in turbo mode now, but in Windows its only showing 3.4. have heard that it will kick in trubo only when needed. But when using AIsuite and bios to oc to 4.2, shows on there screens its at that but still only 3.4 in windows? is something going awry? thanks

Windows are showing stock speed. Mine i5 is at 4.2 Ghz and windows shows only 3.4 Ghz. Download any third-party program.
For example realtemp.

Windows doesn't say the actual speed. It is pretty much just telling you the model number. Cpuz is what most people use to see real cpu speed.

ok thanks. in the resource monitor it shows using 112% of max frequency, is that the turbo kicking in?
