Hi, newb here. I'm thinking of upgrading my GPU from HD7970 to GTX 780. My question is will it be too overkill for my 23" monitor? And is Crucial M4 good for my pc? Or any other alternative for my SSD choice?

My full specs:
Intel i5-3570k
ASrock Z77 Extreme 4
Corsair Vengeance 1600 8gb
Cooler Master GX-750w
Cooler Master Hyper 212
Antec p-280

Solution

The 9970 is predicted to be $550 and will be faster than the gtx 780. Right now, the cheapest gtx 780 is $650 on newegg.

No matter what you do get, wait another month for their release and pick one up or take advantage of price drops.

7970 to 780 really isn't much of an upgrade. I would do 1 of 2 things in your position. 1, I would buy another 7970 and crossfire them. 2, I would wait for the 9970 coming in a month or two.

Crucial M4 has been great. I use two of them and have had no issues.

Most games I played at 1080p and I don't know about the refresh rate. Used to maximize all setting in my games if possible. I'm switching to newer GPU because my previous HD7970 have issues. So I'm buying a new one for my pc. :/

Thanks for the feedbacks guys.

Just read that the radeon 9xxx series is going to be released by the end of next month. If you go 780, depending on how long shipping takes, you will pretty much have the fastest graphics card available for about 3 weeks.

But is the hd 9xxx series price range will be not far with the 780? Given that it supposed to compete with next Nvidia 8xx series, so it must be much more pricey than 780. Although I seek performance over value, I'm afraid it will be too much and might bottleneck my pc. Doesn't it?
