When I try to run BF3 it gives me no more than 15 fps and it usually stays around 5, and changing the settings has no real change in fps because i get the same amount on ultra settings as on low. I am relatively new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just got my computer about 3 weeks ago and it worked perfectly fine on other games I played, fallout new vegas, GTA IV, and minecraft on high settings; however this past week i went on a cruise and didnt do anything to my computer and when i turned it back on and tried running BF3 this problem occured. I then tried going back to GTA to see if I would be able to play it like i used to, but now I'm getting low fps on that too. I have tried changing the resolution on BF3 and that might be part of the problem but it gives me unreliable changes. Sometimes going to a lower resolution gave me a boost in fps, but other times there was no change.

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 340 Dual core processor
Motherboard:ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M Micro ATX FM2
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video card: Asus Radeon HD 7770 1GB Video Card
OS: windows 7 64 bit

to try and solve this myself I have
1. Changed in game settings

2. Changed the resolution(mixed results)

3. Made sure all background apps were closed

4. Restarted the computer

5. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the gpu

6. run an internet security test
