I know there are many posts about this back in 2011 and earlier. I am confused by all them.
I need help and hope NEW info will provide it.

I have: GA-P55a-UD3, 2 Samsung 840 [not 2013,not pro] SSDs. The motherboard's on-board SATA III ports are Marvell 9128. They don't yield very high throughput.
I NEED a SATA III card with RAID 0 to work with the 2 SSDs.
I am looking at Highpoint 640. It is 4x and supports both Win 7 and Mac 10.8.x
[hackintosh].

Will the Highpoint 640 give me READ SEQ [4K test] throughput = 450 MB/s ?
If not are there similarly priced cards that might do better?
I tried Highpoint 620 1x card.
It only yields NON RAID 195 MB/s read 176 write.
The Marvell 9128 on-board port NON RAID yields 368 read, 215 write.

Solution

Absolutely not and nothing will.
If you're looking at the as-ssd 4k test then you would need about 15 of these drives in raid 0 to hit 450mb/s. they only score about 30 in 4k read.
