Hey there. I'm having my problem with my PC, and im fairly confident its a Windows problem. Please keep in mind reinstalling Windows/Nuking my drive is something I am NOT prepared to do.
Whenever I boot up, it takes about 20 seconds to get to the login screen, I don't mind that. When I press enter to proceed into the desktop, though, the system becomes unresponsive and my HDD light starts freaking out . If I leave it, it fixes itself after about 5 minutes . If I proceed to do anything , around 15 minutes. It annoys me because a friend has the same hard drive but is instantly allowed to launch programs and play games . Does anyone know a fix for this ? PS. Ubuntu launches fine.
System:
I7 870 @ 2.9GHz
8GB Kingston RAM
1tb Seagate SATA II HDD
nvidia 9600GT
Gigabyte h55n-s2v
Corsair 750w PSU
Things I have tried:
Defragmentation
Clean boot
Seatools scan
